Weekly news 13/11 & 6/11

Newly promoted Severn Athletic Club made a satisfactory start staying clear of the three relegation spots when placed tenth of the fourteen teams in the opening race of the four race Birmingham Cross-Country Division Two League. They promoted the 10 Kilometre event at a sunny Plock Court.

Summer signing Steve Kenyon asserted his club number one spot settling in behind the leaders early on and held on to place 17th. Club captain James Rose (V40) started steady, then progressed through to 40th. Chris Brown(V40) and Archie Fox swapped positions throughout the race placing 56th and 58th. Dave Clarke (V50) returned the scoring six in 95th place, Alex Hope (V55) 106th, completed the team scoring, overcoming a calamitous fall with 800 metres to go.

The ‘B’ Team achieved a best ever League placing of fifth, led home by an improved Alex Jenkins.

North Sea Trophy Belgium (Orienteering): Race 1, 7 Andy Monro (V50 North Gloucestershire O.C) 26:45, Race 2, 3 Andy Monro 43:36, Race 3, 4 Andy Monro 49:10.  Series Overall: 3/V50.

Double Gloucester 6 Mile: 70 Angela Wixey, 2/LV55 1:22:26. 125 ran.

Severn Athletic Club started well in the first fixture of the Gloucestershire Cross-Country League with a great effort by all our runners in a very muddy and challenging course at Cirencester Park.

Another fantastic club turnout at the Guy Fawkes 5 Mile Road Race at Tewkesbury. Two top ten placings, seven top three age grade placings, several personal bests & second/ninth placings in the mix team awards.
