Tributes have been made to Arthur Birt (97) who died recently. For forty years Arthur was a timekeeper often chief timekeeper at athletic events. Starting at Gloucester Athletic Club meetings, he timed at county, area and national level.
Terry Haines, secretary then chair of Gloucester Athletic Club 1962-1994 praised his immense contribution “Arthur was a quiet man who ensured local athletes had all their important times recorded accurately and quickly. He was an ever present at the club fulfilling many roles essential to club administration. He was one of the bedrocks in Gloucester Athletic Club’s progress to become a club of national status.”

At the Newent 9 Road Race Severn Athletic Club’s Steve Kenyon maintained his dominance with his fourth consecutive victory. He won in a time of 32:37, his three previous winning times being 2018-34:09, 2019-32:22 & 2021-32:21.

Severn Athletic Club’s Richard Boseley, a late starter in athletics has followed up several successes in the over 60 age group with a second Vet60 placing in the opening Birmingham Cross County League Division 2 race, 36 seconds behind Paul Rutter (Leamington AC)
