Severn Athletic Club started the New Year with their second team victory in five days when winning the Pilot Inn 5 Mile Road Race.

Individually nobody could match Hartpury runner Alex Chantler-Mayne(Cheltenham Harriers) who won in 27:54.

The battle for second was a race long tussle between under 17 Alex Rawlings and Severn vice-captain James Rose in his first race in the Vet40 age group. Rawlings won the sprint finish by 2 seconds in 29:25. Rose 3rd in 29:27, was pleased to lead his team to victory with completely different scorers from the “Pilot 4” team winners.

Adrian England 8th in 32:37 and Victor Marques(1/V45) tenth in 35:37 recorded their first top ten open road race placings. Debutant Darren Ridgley(V40) was 13th in 36:08. The remaining team members all won their age groups: Greg Leyshon(1/V65) 17th in 39:45. 18th Kevin Probyn(1/V50) 39:48 & 22nd Les Davis(1/V75) 22nd in 40:39.

Senior Men: 44th Dave Clarke(V45) 41:55, 59th Dave Howells(V50) 43:55, 75th Neil Taylor(V45) 46:26 & 94th Victor Marques(V45) 49:57. 109 ran. 7th Men’s Vets team.

Under17: 9th Alex Rawlings 19:23.

Senior & Vet Ladies & Men Vet65+: 52nd Emma Rawlings(LV45) 36:03, 64th Les Davis(1/V75) 40:34 & 72nd Sandra Brown(LV55) 46:14. 77 ran.

Gloucester City: 4th Will Richmond 18:09(course PB), 15th Victor Marques(2/V45) 19:55(course PB), 19th Neil Taylor(V45) 20:26(course PB), 29th Andy Brown(2/V60) 21:09, 35th Pratik Pradhan(V40) 21:27 & 202 Sandra Brown(LV55) 29;05. 437 ran.

Stonehouse: 22nd Victor Marques(3/V45) 21:39. 140 ran.

Severn Athletic Club are provisionally organising a summer series of 5K races from the Pilot Inn in 2019. 60 places will be available to members of other clubs and unaffiliated athletes. Details will be on the Severn AC website and social media platforms when details are confirmed.
