Weekly news 13/01

Severn Athletic Club produced their best cross country form of the season to place third of the twenty clubs in the Birmingham Cross-Country League Division 3 race held over a challenging 10K Droitwich course.

Peter Stephens headed the club scorers, always in the top 10 & finishing 10th in 38:47. The winning time of 36:09 by Chris Mcleod(Solihull & Small Heath AC).

Next home was James Rose(V40) who made up nine places in the final two miles placing 11th in 39:14. Chris Brown ran with him until Rose started his charge, he placed 23rd in 40:03. Gary Hope(V50) starting off slowly & around 60th at one mile, improved to 31st in 40:58.

Severn’s final two scorers were Will Richmond 45th in 42:01 and Dave Clarke(V45) 51st in 42:29. Both having their best cross-country race yet in their first season over the fields & mud.

Severn retained their 4th place overall in the league closing on the third promotion spot filled by Massey Ferguson RC. They need to make up 61 points in the final race to gain promotion, having beaten them by 44 points at Droitwich.

Severn’s “B” team ran a seasons best finishing in 6th position. Scorers were 89th Adrian England 44:34, 94th Dave Howells(V50) 44:51, 127 Alex Jenkins 46:45, 139th Neil Taylor(V45) 47:25, 151st Andy Brown(V60) 47:47 & 215th Victor Marques(V45) 52:10. 277 ran.

Severn Parkrun Performances:

Crystal Palace: 7th Richard Chapman-Brown(1/V40) 19:35. 462 ran.

Gloucester City: 1st Alex Rawlings(JM15-17) 17:48, 7th Andy Monro(1/V45) 19:47, 16th Pratik Pradhan(3/V40) 21:23, 26th Darren Ridgeley(V40) 22:44, 45th Les Davis(1/V75) 24:19, 51st Emma Rawlings(3/LV45) 24:41,118th Sandra Brown(3/LV55) 29:27 & 180th Dave Blackburn(2/V75) 35:08. 237 ran.
