Alex Jenkins of Severn Athletic Club travelled down south to Plymouth for the weekend to compete in Britain’s Ocean City Half Marathon. With training going well, Alex was hoping to achieve around 1 hour and 40 minutes as his previous best time was 1:44:09 set a few years ago. Alex surpassed this by finishing in 240th place with a time of 1:38:44 and was delighted with his performance.
In Sundays Race 4 Men Gloucestershire, new signing Victor Marques finished 2nd in a time of 43:41. He was then followed up fellow new members, Pratik Pradhan in 9th place with a time of 46:39 and David Howells who finished in 22nd place with a time of 50:58.

Greg Leyshon(68) lowered the club over 65 Kingsway Parkrun course record for the third time this summer. He improved his own record by 4 seconds when running 22:04 to finish 28th and first V65. Leyshon a local star of the 1970’s & 1980’s with 10 Mile 53:03 & Marathon 2:33:30 PB’s commented “It’s nice to be setting age pb’s, my target is sub 22 minutes”.

Club mate Andy Brown(V60) won his 2nd road race age group since entering the V60 age category when leading the club home in 67th place in 41:41 at the Berkeley 10K. Greg Leyshon(V65) was138th in 46:49 & Kevin Probyn(V50) 260th in 53:18. 414 ran.

Gloucester North: 2nd Peter Stephens 18:12 & 6th Dave Howells(V50) 20:35(course PB).

Gloucester City: 3rd Chris Brown 17:19(course PB), 19th Andy Brown(V60) 21:04, 35th Les Davis(V70) 24:12, 50th Emma Rawlings(LV40) 25:38, 52nd Phil Reece(V50) 26:07(course PB) & 81st Sandra Brown(LV55) 29:25(course PB).

Kingsway: 9th Adrian England 20:30, 28th Greg Leyshon(V65) 22:04, 58th George Scully(V65) 24:09 & 110th Kevin Probyn(V50)  26:59.

Phomphrey Hill: 30th Neil Taylor(V45) 21:34.
