
Severn Athletic Club’s new signing Steve Kenyon made an auspicious debut in the Bourton Hilly Half Marathon which includes the demanding climb up the Cotswold Scarp. The route took the runners up the legendary steeps (the first of two major climbs) and eventually out towards Sherborne. After looping back up the second major climb toward Clapton, the race eventually took runners back into Bourton. He finished fourth in 1 hour 15 minutes 43 seconds, second best time by a Severn Athlete for ten years and ranking him in the club’s top fifteen of all time. Club record is 1:10:31 held by Harry Bishop(Stroud 2018). He led his new team mates to Severn’s first team placing in this race, second(4,8 & 33) to Western Tempo(5,6 & 10). Winner Ben Robinson(Bristol & West AC) 1:11:33.

For the first time four local club’s compete in Division Two of the Birmingham League Cross-Country League in 2022-2023. Newly promoted Western Tempo and Severn Athletic Club join CLC Striders and relegated Cheltenham & County Harriers. Other clubs are: Cannock & Stafford, Bromsgrove & Redditch, Tamworth AC, Telford AC, Solihull & Small Heath A.C., Aldridge R.C., C.L.C. Striders RC, Spa Striders, Black Pear Joggers, Leamington & Knowle & Dorridge.
