
Six days after pacing a friend around the Boston(UK) Marathon in 3 hrs 17 mins 36 secs, Severn Athletic Club’s Imran Hassanjee(V40) placed 6th in the Sharpness 50K in 4:45:21(5/V40). He just finished outside his 4:43:25 time from 2019 when placing 4th. Running his first race since joining the club new member Jim Smith finished 12th in 5:05:19(3/SM). Also in 18th place was Dan Nurse (V40) who finished in 5:32:1733 ran.
In the Sharpness 16 Mile race on the same day new member Carl Beard finished 4th in 2:05:04(2/SM). 55 ran.
Three members travelled to St Albans to run the Half Marathon with new member John Chapman marking his race debut in club colours with a PB. 74th Jim Smith(V40) 1:32:44, 78th John Chapman(V40) 1:32:50 & 196th Pratik Pradhan(V40) 1:40:32. 1610 ran.
Norman Wilson organiser of many local distance races has died aged 65. He had an outstanding career in distance running wining many races up to the marathon in the UK and Europe. He represented Great Britain and the Army with a marathon best of 2:13:17(Boston 1981), the second best by a county athlete behind Dan Robinson(Stroud) 2:12:14(Amsterdam 2009). He became a successful coach and team manager after retiring and was a member of several clubs, principally Thames Valley Harriers and Bourton Road Runners.
