Severn AC January Virtual Challenge – 2021

What. A team event to welcome 2021.

When. Runs are to be completed over the weekend 23rd/24th January. 

Where. Up to the individual but the overall elevation of each registered run should be as close to zero as possible. Runs that have an overall positive elevation gain are acceptable.

Who. All Severn AC members and Gloucestershire runners.

How. Runners will be placed into x2 pools. Pool A will consist of those who are capable of running sub 76 minutes for 10 miles. Pool B will consist of 76+ minutes runners. There will be x2 runners per team (1 x Pool A, 1 x Pool B). Pool A will run 20 miles, Pool B will run 21 miles. Runners can chose to split their distance over the weekend or they can do it in a single run. Runners can only register x1 run per day.

Entry. Entries will close on 21st January, teams will be drawn on the 22nd. You can enter via email (severnathleticclub@gmail.com), post on the club Facebook page or Club WhatsApp chat group.

Scoring. Overall times for each runner will be added together and the team with the quickest 2021 time wins.

Results. Runners can submit results via email, post on the club Facebook page or WhatsApp chat group. Garmin, Suunto and Strava links accepted as proof of time. In extremis screenshots / photos of your watch.

Rules:

Observe government guidelines and maintain social distancing at all times.

Do not wear headphones and always be aware of other road users.

If you feel ill do not run.

Make sure you run the correct distance i.e. 20 or 21 miles. If you run less than the required distance your team will be disqualified.

Elapsed and moving time must be within 5 seconds of each other. Were there is a significant difference Elapsed time will be taken as your official time.

FAQs

Do I have to complete the distance in one attempt? No, you can do the distance over 2 days.

Do I have to split the distance 50/50? No. You can chose to run whatever distances you like so long as the total is 20 or 21 i.e. 18 miles on 23rd and then 2 miles on 24th. 

How many runs can I register? 2. One per day.

If I run too far can my run be trimmed using Strava? No. Whatever you run will count towards your overall time.
