Severn Athletic Club’s Alex Rawlings (JM15-17) is ending his best cross-country season with national class performances. After a silver in the Midland Championships and a bronze in the South West Schools Championship, he placed 19th in the National Inter Counties Cross-Country Championships at Loughborough. All the national best under 17 runners competed over a muddy 6K course. “I had a good start, got amongst the top twenty five and stayed there”. Rawlings was involved in a mass finishing sprint clocking 21:56, winner Will Barnicoat (Surrey) in 20:41. Rawlings led the Gloucestershire county team home and races in the National School Championships on Saturday in Liverpool.
Severn Athletic Club’s ladies fielded a team in all four fixtures of the Gloucestershire Cross-Country League for the first time since 2008, placing 11th overall in the series.

Final Race, Old Down Country Park(Thornbury): 88 Megan Partridge 34:40, 100 Emily Cross 36:51 & 112 Sandra Brown LV60 44:00. 120 ran.
The men also completed their cross-country season in the same fixture with in form runs. 26 Chris Brown 33:25, 30 Will Richmond 33:42 both given fright by 32 David Clarke V45 33:50. In 49th David Howells 3/V50 36:16, also placing third overall in the 50-54 age group. 88 ran.
