Weekly news 2/12

Severn Athletic Club were 5th of the 22 clubs in the second Birmingham Cross Country League Division Three race at Plock Court. They remain 4th in the league but the points between them and the thee promotion places has increased, with two races left.

They were led home by Peter Stephens running his first cross country for five seasons. He was in the top ten throughout the race with a strong finish giving him 7th in 34:11. Chris Brown 10th in 34:46 improved from 19th in the first race. Gary Hope(V50) 14th in 35:10 was a place higher. Will Richmond was 4th scorer, 39th in 37:10. The teams scorers were completed by Dave Clarke(V45) 56th in 37:58, an improvement of 19 places and Adrian England 78th in 38:38, a thirty place improvement.

Other Severn finishers were 94th Dave Howells(V50) in 39:26, 144th Neil Taylor(V45) in 42:36 and debutant Farooq Mota(V45) 196th in 45:54. 242 ran.

In the 30th Lanzarote International Running Challenge Severn’s Richard Brown(V40) and dad Andy Brown(V60) both completed the 4 races in 4 days. Consisting of a 10K Road Race, 13K M/T Volcano Ridge Run, 5K Beach Race & 21K M/T La Vuelta de Tinajo.

30th 423 RICHARD CHAPMAN-BROWN 40-44 GBR 00:39:23 00:56:14 00:18:54 01:22:35 03:17:05 (9/V40).

73rd 422 ANDREW BROWN 60-64 GBR 00:43:52 01:04:02 00:21:48 01:31:31 03:41:11 (3V/60).
