Weekly News 2/09

Severn Athletic Club’s concluding Pilot Inn 5 Kilometre Road Race last Wednesday was dominated by Cheltenham Harriers. Their winner Alex Lee set a new record time of 15:18, followed home by three club mates who anchored their team to a 33 point to 74 advantage over Severn.

Severn’s team was lead home by Peter Stephens, 5th in 16:58. He overtook Chris Brown  in the final mile, Brown finishing 8th in 17:16.

Alex Hope ran the fastest over 50 time by a Severn athlete this year winning his age group in 18:03 placing 12th. Andy Brown added to his collection of over 60 victories placing 23rd in 20:17.

Other Severn finishers were: 14th Gary Hope(2/V50) 18:11, 17th Dave Clarke(3/V45) 19:03, 19th Dave Howells(3/V50) 19:30, 21st Steve Hale(V40) 19:59, 24th Alex Jenkins 20:21, 25th Neil Taylor(V45) 20:29, 26th Victor Marques(V45) 20:38, 34th Greg Leyshon(2/V65) 23:30, 35th Kevin Probyn(V50) 23:37 & 46th Sandra Brown(LV55) 29:27.

*The Times in this race have been adjusted to reflect the unfortunate road works that led to the course start having to be moved and leaving the route slightly short.

The Mayor of Gloucester Joanne Brown started the race and presented the awards.

Kingsway: 48th Victor Marques(V45) 23:45(pacer), 71st George Scully (V65) 25:02, 107th Kevin Probyn(V50) 27:04 & Will Richmond 29:21(pacer) 285 ran.
