Weekly news 15th July

For the last thirty-five years, Severn Athletic Club’s veteran distance runner Les Davis now 75, has been rewriting the record books in the 5 year age groups from club to national level. He won the world 55-59 Marathon title. His latest run at the Rose Inn 4 Mile Road Race was a new county age 75 record of 29mins 41secs when 98th of the 190 runners. His grandson Alex Rawlings(U17) was 18th in 23:03 with other Severn runners achieving season bests: 41st Stephen Hale(V40) 26:08, 88th Greg Leyshon(V65) 29:06, 128th Emma Rawlings(W45) 31:59 & 151st Rob Cytlau(V65) 33:36.

On one of the hottest days of the summer at the Serpent Trail 50 Kilometre Race within the South Downs National Park Neil Taylor(V45) was 44th of 158 runners in 06:33:39.

In the weekend Parkruns Severn runners were first past the post seven times in their respective age groups.

Gloucester City: 5th Ian Overthrow(V50) 19:20, 8th Adrian England 19:40, 12th Andy Brown(1st V60) 21:02, 17th Pratik Pradhan(V40) 21:18, 30th Farook Mota(V45) 22:34 & 109th Sandra Brown(LV55) 30:05. 174 ran.

Gloucester North: 3rd Dave Howells(1st V50) 20:39 & 11th Neil Taylor(1st V45) 22:51. 119 ran.

Kingsway: 7th Dave Clarke(V45) 18:43, 44th Greg Leyshon(1st V65) 22:27, 68th George Scully(V65) 24:34, 74th Kevin Probyn(V50) 25:52 & 169th Dave Blackburn(1st V75 course PB) 234 ran.

Lydney: 1st Alex Rawlings(JM15-17) 18:37, 23rd Les Davis(1st V75) 24:01 & 29th Emma Rawlings(LV45) 24:46. 106 ran.
