Severn news w/c 3rd June

Dymock resident James Rose, Severn Athletic Club’s vice captain won his village half marathon for the sixth time. He set a new course record of 1:17:27 beating his time from 2017 of 1:19:18. He was delighted to lead Severn to their first Dymock Half Marathon team win in ten years. Team mate Chris Brown was second in 1:21:24, beating off the challenge of training companion Jeremy Mower(Gloucester AC) in 1:21:52. Recent signing Victor Marques(V45) ran a personal best of 1:30:22 when tenth, scoring for Severn’s team for the first time. Final team scorer in 13th, Adrian England 1:31:58. Other Severn finishers were: 22nd David Howells(V50) 1:34:33, 32nd Neil Taylor(V45) 1:37:22, 53rd Pratik Pradhan & 103rd Greg Leyshon(V65) 2:08:37. 137 ran.

Severn scored another team victory in the Pilot Inn 5K Road Race. A lull in the heavy showers produced excellent running conditions and the flat course helped many runners to personal and season bests. Sergio Martinez-Gonzalez(Swindon AC) won in 16:22 with former Severn member Mark James(Cheltenham Harriers V40) second in 16:50 and Chris Brown(Severn AC) third in 17:08. Severn’s other team scorers were: 9th Will Richmond 18:19, 11th Adrian England 19:05, 12th Dave Clarke(V45) 19:05, 14th Dave Howells(V50) 19:43(PB) & 15th Victor Marques(V45) 20:02.
