Severn Athletic Club’s Chris Brown was first past the post for the first time in 2018 when running 18 minutes in the Kingsway Parkrun 5K. His chief challenge came from grandson of Severn’s multi-veteran champion distance runner Les Davis, Alex Rawlings(JM15) who was second in 18:21. Davis outclassed the other over seventies placing 56th in 23:49.
At the Bromley Parkrun Brown’s elder brother Richard was 12th in 18:31, his best in 2018. Dad Andy(V60) was 78th in 21:57, mum Sandra(LV55) 414th in 29:25. 692 ran.
The next day at the challenging Crystal Palace Park 10K over a 2 lap course Richard secured a top ten finish placing 9th in 40:21. Andy was 19th and first V60 in 44:08. 226 ran.
At the Cheltenham parkrun Dave Blackburn set a club over 75 best of 39:14 when placing 465th of 502 runners.
In his final prep race before the London Marathon Neil Taylor(V45) was 25th at the Taunton Parkrun in 21:10. 285 ran.
