Harry Wells from Quedgeley and Chris Brown from Hempsted repeated their 2017 battle for the Tredworth Easter Monday 4.3 Mile Road Race. In the 71st renewal event, the two quickly established a lead over their city rivals. Pacing and alternatively testing each other the decisive moment came with a mile and quarter to go. Last year, Wells track speed gave him a lead with Brown chasing. Wells equaled his course record of 24:09. Brown finished second in 28:18, six seconds closer this time. Third went to newcomer Owen Parry from Linden who ran 25:11.

The ladies event went to another newcomer Kirsty Martin(LV35) from Quedgeley, 14th in 32:10. The under 17 award going to Laura McPeake from Hardwicke, 16th in 33:33(an age group record).

Former Tredworth winners, two times champion Dave Lander(Quedgeley) won the over 50’s placing fifth in 27:06 & 1975 champion Rob Cytlau(V65) who ran 2:15:20 for the marathon was 25th in 39:21. Over 25 times competitor Dave Spackman Vet 70 (Kingsholm) was 22nd in 36:33. His grandchildren finished 17th Kieran Spackman(U15) in 33:52 and 19th Ellie Gabb(U15) in 36:03.
