At the Weston Prom 5 Mile race on Thursday Chris Brown improved on his previous 5 Mile best set at the last Weston Prom race by finishing in 16th place with a time of 27:49. This was a 4 second improvement, Chris was delighted with this performance as conditions were wet and windy, much tougher than the previous race before. The race was won by Phil Burden (Taunton) in a time of 25:08, 350 runners finished.
He then followed this up by finishing 1st in the Kingsway Parkrun on Saturday in a time of 17:47, the sixth time he has now finished in 1st place. This was closely followed up by club mate Ian Overthrow (v50) who finished 2nd in a time of 18:48.
A trio of Severn Athletes braced the cold weather on Sunday to compete at the Gloucester 10K, Greg Leyshon (v60) led Severn home in 147th place in a time of 47:56, he was then followed by Kevin Probyn (v50) who finished in 198th place in a time of 50:22, John James (v60) then finished the trio in 352nd place with a time of 56:52. 660 runners finished.
At the other local Parkrun at Gloucester North, Neil Taylor (v45) finished in 12th place in a time of 22:27. Club mate David Blackburn (v70) achieved a new personal best finishing in 116th place in a time of 46:08.
At the Forest of Dean Parkrun, Leslie Davis (v70) finished 33rd in 24:17. His grandson Alex Rawlings (u14) finished 8th in 20:22.
Don’t forget that next Saturday (2nd December) is the next fixture in the Birmingham Division 3 Cross Country Fixture and is being held by ourselves at Plock Court again.
