Weekly News 6/3

Alex Hope of Severn Athletic Club has been pleased with his winter season. The 57 year old, a distance star in his younger days, ran 2 hours 59 minutes in the Newport Marathon and has been a valuable scorer in Severn’s promotion winning team in the Birmingham Cross-Country League Division Three. He finished 50th and fourth over 55 in the final Gloucestershire Cross-Country League fixture at Old Down Country Park, clocking 39:19 for the stiff 6 Mile course. Club mate Nicholas Allen was fourth over 60 and ran a league best when 80th in 46:18. In the final placings for the 3 race series Allen placed second Vet 60 and Hope third Vet 55.
