Severn AC January 5 miles Time Trial (Re-arranged)
What. An individual ‘open’ 5 miles time trial event
When. Sunday 25th April 2021 (Lockdown/COVID restrictions permitting). Start line will open at 0900hrs and close at 0920hrs.
Where. The Pilot Inn through Elmore, out to Farley’s End and back.
Who. Severn AC members and Gloucestershire runners. Note, all those who entered in January will automatically be offered a place that will be held until 14 April. See ‘Start list’ for further details.
How. Runners will be set off in waves based on ability/expected finish time. Fastest to slowest groups. To avoid congestion and to ensure social distancing can be maintained around the start line only one wave will be allowed in the start/finish area at any time. Waves will be set off with sufficient time between to ensure social distancing can be maintained. On finishing the time trial runners are requested not to congregate and wait for others at the start/finish area Start times will be allocated once final numbers are confirmed.
Entry. Entries will close on 21st April at 1200hrs. Start times will be issued by 2000hrs on 22nd April 2021. Runners can enter by email (severnathleticclub@gmail.com), post on the club Facebook page or Club WhatsApp chat group. Entries will be limited to 60 runners.
Scoring. General standings based on time (fastest first), sub groups for SM/SW/V40/V45/V50 increasing in 5yrs increments.
Results. Results will be published/emailed shortly after the last runner completes the course. If Covid restrictions do not allow the use of a timekeeper runners will be able to submit results via email to severnathleticclub@gmail.com, post on the club Facebook page or WhatsApp chat group. In this scenario Garmin, Suunto and Strava links accepted as proof of time. In extremis screenshots / photos of your watch.
The course. An out and back starting just after the Hardwicke canal bridge. Out for 2.5 miles through Elmore, past Wholly Gelato and on to Farley’s End. Approx. 9m after the telegraph pole turnaround at the 2.5 miles marker. The finish is directly opposite the start. Start/Finish and turning point will be clearly marked.
When turning at the 2.5 miles marker ensure you are aware of traffic in both directions.

Waves. Waves will be determined by current Covid guidelines.
Safety. Maintaining a Covid safe environment for all runners is paramount. In the start/finish area there will be a Covid Coordinator who will ensure the area is clear of runners at all times apart from when waves are called forward and runners are crossing the finish line. All runners will need to provide a phone number and email address that they can be contacted on in the event someone later tests positive for Covid.
Rules:
Do not enter the start area until your allotted time and it is clear of runners from the previous wave.
Maintain social distancing at all times.
Ensure you maintain 2m distance from the Timekeepers.
Do not wear headphones.
Runners must keep to the left-hand side of the road where possible and be aware of other road users.
If you feel ill do not run.
Run to the markers and not your watch i.e. Start at the start line, finish at the finish line, turn round at the 2.5 miles marker.
No spectators please, especially around the start area.
At the 2.5 miles marker beaware of traffic in both directions. Only turn when it is safe to do so.
And finally, enjoy it. This is you v the clock but alongside like minded runners
