Severn Athletic Club’s two leading distance runners James Rose and Chris Brown spearheaded the club’s challenge to complete a hat-trick of team victories in the Cirencester Summer Sizzler 10K Race. After victories at Dymock and the Pilot Inn, hopes were high for another win.

Rose and Brown didn’t get on terms with the leading trio, the race won by David Bell(Cirencester) in 33:21. Rose’s superior finish gave him fourth in 35:44 with Brown fifth six seconds behind.

Severn’s third scorer was Dave Clarke(V40) who finished 31st in 40:56. Severn(40 points) losing out to Stroud Athletic Club(34) for the team prize. Severn’s other finishers were Dave Howells(V50) 41:17, 45th Andy Brown(1st V60) 42:15 & 50th Neil Taylor(V40) 43:01. 374 ran.

At the Rose Inn 4 Mile Road Race Severn’s trio ran seasons bests. Stephen Hale(V40) 27:04, 125th Greg Leyshon(V65) 29:47 & Rob Cytlau(V65) 34:07. 238 ran.
