Severn Athletic Club’s distance runner Chris Brown maintained his career best form. On Saturday he was first past the post in the Kingsway Parkrun in 18:04, his 5th first place finish there. Then on Sunday at the Tewkesbury Guy Fawkes 5 mile, he made the podium for the first time in a major open road race. He battled former club mate Mark James for much of the distance. James edged him for second in 27:43. Brown was 3rd in 27:53, equalling his week old best 5 mile time.
Severn’s other success came at Malmesbury in the Gloucester Cross-Country League where Les Davis won the over seventies in 35:20 for the five mile course.
